The InterContinental brand is back in Italy with its InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace. Set along the iconic Via Veneto in the Ludovisi area of Rome, the new hotel is slated to open in 2022. The existing palazzo building is currently being restored, combing neo-classical details with contemporary design. The anticipated result? Discreet, modern luxury for visitors and locals alike.

Designed in the early 1900s by architect Carlo Busiri Vici in the neo-renaissance style, the palazzo building was originally home to the American Ambassador Library, opening as a hotel in 1993. Guests will benefit from its proximity to the city’s wealth of art and history, thanks to a prime location less than a mile walk from the Galleria Borghese, Spanish Steps, and Trevi Fountain. Both the public areas and exterior will retain the charm of the original historical landmark. The hotel is also easily accessed via Rome’s Ciampino or Fiumicino international airports and is less than 10 minutes from the city’s main rail station.

The Italian restaurant launched in New York City’s Meatpacking District in 2008. Following its great success in NYC, Scarpetta quickly expanded globally with its newest location within the InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace. The Italian expression, “fare la scarpetta” describes the gesture of taking a little boot-shaped piece of bread to soak up the remaining sauce left in the pot of one’s home kitchen. The restaurant’s name is derived from this familiar gesture and represents the indulgent pleasure of savoring a meal down to its very last taste.

Known for bold flavors, Scarpetta’s signature pastas are made in-house daily and paired with locally sourced ingredients. The famous Spaghetti Tomato & Basil is nothing short of a classic in both taste and preparation. Scarpetta’s understated yet elegant approach to Italian cuisine offers a soulful menu paired with a chic and inspiring environment—a perfect match for its new home in the Ambasciatori Palace.

Charlie’s Rooftop
This bar brings the decadence of Fellini’s “Dolce Vita” Rome back to Via Veneto. Its name, Charlie’s Rooftop, refers to the classic descriptor of “a good time Charlie.” Fusing effortless elegance with a bit of eclectic glam, the experience personifies the ‘60s international jet-setter and the American bars frequented, re-imagined for today’s social life. With soulful live music and intimate DJ sets paired with classic cocktails and sophisticated snacks, Charlie’s caters to today’s aspirational Roman and international guest. Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya
The national museum of Catalan visual art (MNAC)—which sits atop Montjuic Hill in the Palau Nacional of Montjuic—was built for the International Exposition of 1929 and the design was inspired by the Spanish-renaissance and academic classicism.
