Not only is Scotland’s natural beauty enticing, but nine Michelin-star restaurants span from Edinburgh to Perthshire and the rugged Highlands. 2. The Wolseley. This London institution is the quintessential host for a high-powered business lunch. Located on the famous Picadilly, the all-day café serves traditional afternoon tea, too.

3. Spring. Nestled inside the iconic Somerset House, the design of this restaurant—pops of muted color amidst grand marble—is as notable as the cuisine. Expect Italian dishes and locally sourced ingredients straight from the nearby organic farm, Fern Verrow.

4. Padella. If pasta is your passion, don’t miss Padella, located on the outskirts of Borough Market. The pasta bar features such favorites as the Tagliarini with dry chili, garlic, and pangrattato, while cocktails of choice include Negroni and prosecco. The restaurant has a no reservations policy, but any wait is well worth it!

5. Darjeeling Express. You can’t visit London without experiencing its plethora of Indian cuisine, and this upper level, chic Soho outpost is as known for both its food and gracious owner, Asma Khan. The restaurant originally started out as a dozen-seat Indian supper club and has since garnered a serious foodie following.

Nestled along the northwest corner of England, the Lake District National Park is located in the county of Cumbria and offers some of the finest vistas in all of Great Britain. Outdoor adventure abounds, including fishing, boating, kayaking, and incredible trekking. In between adventures, stop at such charming villages as Coniston, lined with pubs, shops, and plenty of fresh seafood.

One of the most brilliant and unique ways to explore Loch Ness Lake in the Scottish Highlands? Zorbing! Your point of view is a large plastic clear globe, which floats along the surface while you take in the sights and sounds of one of the most famous lakes in the world.

Britain is known for its many urban hubs, including the scenic city of Bristol, which hosts the brilliant Bristol International Balloon Fiesta (as seen above). Held August 6-9, 2020, at Ashton Court Estate, four days of free family fun showcase 130 hot air balloons from across the globe, making it Europe’s largest annual meeting of hot air balloons. Festivities also include shopping, live entertainment, and fairground rides.

Celebrate Wales’ striking countryside, coast, and castles during the “Year of the Outdoors,” held throughout 2020-2021. With an 870-mile coastal path, three national parks, 600 castles, and Dark Sky Reserves to explore, 2020 and 2021 are poised for unique experiences. Outdoor pursuits include hiking Tryfan Mountain in Ogwen Valley (pictured above), foraging, surfing, wildlife experiences, and glamping. What’s more, Carmarthen Bay in south Wales will feature a new “Sand of Speeds” Visitor Center on Pendine Sands. Located on the beach where Sir Malcom Campbell drove the record-setting Blue Bird car in 1924, it’s slated to open in summer 2020 and will also house a 420-bed hotel for an indulgent night’s sleep after an action-packed day.
