the ultra-luxury cruise line has pioneered a wellness program for its new ship Silver Dawn that takes inspiration from the leisurely nature of the ancient Roman lifestyle. Otium debuts this spring and extends from guests’ suites to the spa and beyond, focusing on indulgence, pampering, and pleasure.

Silversea’s Otium is a customized multi-dimensional wellness journey built on the principles that wellness should be a natural, enjoyable part of the day.

Key pillars of the Otium experience include restorative sleep, soothing baths, quiet moments on the balcony, and favorite dishes that temp your taste buds. All guests aboard Silver Dawn can expect to lounge on the finest Egyptian cotton linens—and on a special Otium-inspired mattress designed exclusively for Silversea—and have the choice to select a personal pillow from the cruise line’s pillow menu (with more options than one may know exists!). As for bathing, Silver Dawn offers guests the use of both a walk-in shower and bath, along with the option to indulge in a multisensory bath soak. Prepared by Silversea butlers, these bespoke bathing experiences include bath salts and soothing candles, complemented by caviar, chocolate truffles, and champagne. Also available in each cabin is a private balcony to encourage travelers to slow down and enjoy the horizon as it stretches across the water. Silversea has curated this balcony experience, too, providing a warm cashmere blanket, selection of delectable appetizers, and the first hot chocolate menu at sea.

Additionally, Silversea integrated the Otium wellness program outside the cabin suite, with comfort food and spa experiences. The existing range of fine dining has been further enhanced with the addition of an in-suite comfort food menu, available 24-hours per day and designed to enhance guests’ movie nights, pre-dinner aperitifs, and other moments of leisure. Plus, Silver Dawn’s spa will be redesigned with Otium in mind, offering guests a highly selective treatment menu designed by wellness experts. In addition to relaxing massages and a range of other treatments, guests can unwind and socialize in the spa’s thermal areas with a glass of champagne or signature snacks—enriched with trademark ingredients, from caviar to truffles.
