Other must-visit destinations in Tanzania's northern circuit include Tarangire National Park, where baobabs dwarf the herds of elephants that feed beneath them and the park's permanent river serves as a lifeline for the Maasai people and local wildlife.

As the world’s largest inactive unfilled volcanic caldera, the crater is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa. It’s also home to two major water sources, the Lerai Stream and the Ngoitokitok Spring, which is near the eastern crater wall. Take in the Ngoitokitok Spring at the crater’s floor, and keep any eye out for hippopotamuses, elephants, and lions.

Serengeti or “endless plains” in the native Maasai language, is home to more than two million wildebeests, half a million gazelles, and a quarter-million zebra. These species gather in the plains for their annual migration. With such large numbers of prey in one area, predators like leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas may be seen hunting.
