Of all the resorts in Anguilla, Belmond Cap Juluca is the best-known due its storied past, its distinctive Moroccan-inspired design, and the property’s setting on 179 acres on Maundays Bay, one of the Caribbean’s finest beaches. From opening day in 1988, Cap Juluca has attracted celebrities, high society, and loyal guests who return every year. Few resorts can match Cap Juluca’s blend of beachfront accommodations, exceptional service and dining, and sophisticated atmosphere.
What’s new? For starters, all guest rooms, restaurants, and lounges have been refreshed and enhanced. In addition, the resort now has an infinity-edge pool, new elegant lounges and living spaces, a rustic beach bar, and many new features. What hasn’t changed? The magical setting on a mile-long crescent of white sand, guestrooms just a few steps from the beach, the atmosphere of seclusion and tranquility, and the beloved resort’s staff, most of whom returned after the property re-opened.
The starting category is the Deluxe Beachfront guest room, offering nearly 750 square feet of space, including a private terrace and oversized bathrooms. Décor is elegant, timeless, easy to live with, with many textures (wood, tile, sisal, cotton) in earth tones and shades of blue. Every guest room has a plush bed, living area, with views of the ocean. Guests also have a choice of junior suites and suites. For travelers who want more space and an extra level of seclusion, Belmond Cap Juluca offers a series of one, two, three, and five-bedroom suites and villas, all with private pools and a dedicated service team.
Guests have four different dining experiences to choose from. Cip’s, the property’s casual Italian restaurant, pays homage to the Cipriani hotel in Venice, where many its recipes originated. Two popular new additions are Maundays Club, serving small plates and sophisticated Peruvian cuisine, as well as The Cap Shack, a rustic Caribbean venue serving barbecue and rum punches, at the far end of the beach. Belmond Cap Juluca’s fine dining restaurant is Pimms, a celebrated and romantic venue on the water’s edge, serving classic Anguillan dishes like grilled island lobster and fresh snapper. All guests enjoy a breakfast buffet in Cip’s by Cipriani daily.
You are spoiled for choice of activities during your stay, both on and off property. At the resort, enjoy kayaking, windsurfing, snorkeling, tennis, water skiing and my favorite – swimming in Belmond Cap Juluca’s crystal-clear beach. Choose from a wide range of experiences off-property, including snorkeling in the Prickly Pear Cays, exploring Anguilla’s beautiful hidden coves like Little Bay, or chartering a sailboat for a half or full day of adventures.
